The phrase Iron sharpens Iron comes from the Book of Proverbs 27:17 in the Bible:

"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another"

This is a call to accountability.

In ancient times, bladesmiths used iron tools to hone iron blades. The process wasn't gentle, but violent, intense and deliberate. But necessary.
